Welcome to Dedicated Insanity!

Welcome to our little corner of the interwebs.  Both Roksi and I have managed to log a lot of time both administrating guilds and leading raids and we have both picked up a lot of wisdom over the years.  Since we first started playing together, a little over 2 years ago at this point, we have had several ongoing discussions about the various ins and outs of what it takes to run a successful guild and lead a group of raiders into a dungeon week after week to kill dragons.  We both thought that it might be fun, definitely interesting, and perhaps even helpful if we were to try and get some of our discussions down in writing somewhere.

With the upcoming changes to raiding in Cataclysm, it occurred to us that there aren’t a whole lot of resources available for 10man raiding guilds.  We are both regular lurkers in several communities around the internet related to raiding, tanking, forming and managing guilds, leading raids, and killing dragons.  But though there are plenty of guides on what it takes to model your group after a bleeding edge world-first type of guild, there aren’t a whole lot of resources out there for people who just want to organize and run a progression oriented, but still family like raiding group that is still capable of feeding the desires of a progression oriented crowd.

This blog is our take on what is involved in organizing and managing a progression oriented 10man hard mode raiding guild without having to sacrifice the family like atmosphere we love, the close friendships we cherish, or the ability to clear the content at a pace we are all happy with.

Welcome 🙂 Good to see another ten-man guild blogging, even this close to the end of the expansion! I look forward to reading more from you two.

Most readers’ questions these days will be along the lines of 10-man guild organization, as they look ahead to forming their own 10’s in Cataclysm. It’s a good topic with much interest!

    WooHoo! My first comment?!?!?!

I have no real idea what I am doing at this point, I have largely ignored most of the blogosphere for the last several years and just very recently discovered the whole community of WoW blogs.

I’ve always had to do a lot of writing through work though and it is something I genrally enjoy. hopefully I will get a better idea of the right “voice” to use with enough practice and I will be able to avoid overloading the internet with the long rambling stream of consciousness posts that I regularly subject my guild to on our non-public forums.

We waited until we had a bunch of posts written and saved up until we opened the blog to the public and now I just want to run through hitting PUBLISH! on all of them to get them out… Roksi is far more careful and reserved about stuff and she is a much bigger fan of the list making and the “let’s sleep on it” approach whereas I think I’m much more of the gogoGOGOgoGO!!!!!! Let’s just start it and see what happens!!! approach to most things… it somehow all works itself out usually though.
